Salisbury Full-Fibre FTTP Broadband Build Availability and Progress

Salisbury full-fibre FTTP build progress by street, numbers, and statistics

Introduction

Salisbury is going to be the the the first city in the UK to benefit from complete full-fibre FTTP broadband, and this roll-out is forecast to take just one year, complete by April 2020.

On this page, we take a look at the detailed statistics and numbers against this ambitious FTTP full-fibre broadband build programme.

Latest Update

Our live availability checker now includes all properties and businesses in Salisbury that are planned in the full-fibre FTTP infrastructure build.

If after checking your address, "UltraBEAM xxxx Planned" is returned - then your property is part of the FTTP programme, and you will be able to order an FTTP service by March 2020.

Our checker is live, so if you can order an FTTP service today, then you will see our "UltraBEAM xxx" services but without the "Planned" suffix.

As of December 2019, over 80% of the ~22,000 properties planned for FTTP coverage are able to order it.

(As we have integrated our website availability checker with the properties being planned, we won't be updating the below table. The information below was correct as of 31/03/19. Now on you can just put your postcode into the checker to find out availability).

Total Premises Passed covers the homes/businesses that are able to order a full-fibre FTTP broadband connection 'today'. This means that the fibre infrastructure is within a few metres of the premises and just the final 'drop cable' needs to be installed from the nearby connectorised node to the premises. Typically this means that leadtime is 10 working days.

Year Month Total Premises Passed
2019 March 124
2019 February 35
2018 341
2017 271
2016 143
2015 148
2014 104
Total Premises Passed (TPP) with FTTP 1,166

*These figures are estimates on how many premises are served by the Salisbury exchange and therefore the remaining to be enabled with full-fibre FTTP. The TPP figure is correct.

Previous Update - Total Premises Passed by Child Exchange

(As we have integrated our website availability checker with the properties being planned, we won't be updating the below table. The information below was correct as of 31/03/19. Now on you can just put your postcode into the checker to find out availability).

Salisbury has its own exchange, but is also the handover exchange or "Parent Exchange" for nine other exchanges for fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) & fibre to the premises (FTTP) services in the nearby area. For the full-fibre city plans, the premises directly connected back to Salisbury exchange are the main focus, this includes approximately 21,000 premises. However some neighbouring child exchanges, notably excluding Wilton exchange, are being upgraded with full-fibre FTTP.
